The run goes on

Dukinfield had kicked off and wished they hadn't as Hoylake moved the ball quickly and Connor Bradshaw stormed through to score. Jack Jones's conversion attempt was charged down. A minute later and Carlie Ward crossed the line and Jack Jones avoided the attempted charge down to convert. So 12 – 0 and I was then able to record the team:

Darren Agnew Jonny Webster Matt O'Neill
Shaun Jardine Elliot Allsop
Charlie Ward Jake Woods Max Bradley

Ben Sparke Jack Jones

Cameron Penny Connor Bradshaw Mike Webster(Capn) Ben Toleman

Joe Lavin

Matt O'Hanlon was on the touchline, dropped for not attending training!

It looked as if Darren Agnew had scored as he scampered down the left wing only for the linesman to judge Darren had stepped into touch. Minutes later after a couple of breakdowns Ben Sparke scored a good try. Minutes later Matt O'Neill made a break, yes that's right, and offloads to Charlie Ward who sprints away to score his second try. Jack Jones converts and takes the score to 24 – 0 and a try bonus point. Dukinfield do manage a score just before half-time.

So to the 2nd half. Hoylake kicked off and as is becoming routine were on the scoreboard in no time. Matt O'Neill intercepted, yes that's right, and fed Elliot Allsop who was able to cross the line untouched. Jack Jones added the extras before a few minutes later he created the next score. Having taken the ball he chipped ahead and raced to gather and just short of the line with the risk of being tackled he passed to the supporting Matt O'Hanlon who scored ( Matt had replaced Max Bradley at half time) and Jack Jones converted.
Things settle down a bit as the referee finds any excuse to penalise Hoylake, at one point taking exception to whatever he saw Jonny Webster doing because to the sin bin he was sent. It was probably because of repeated penalties in Hoylake's 22. Anyway Dukinfield take advantage of the extra man and score a couple of goals, the second of which is worth mentioning as it came from a Matt O'Neill pass, yes that's right, which was intercepted and led to the score.
Undaunted Hoylake react by scoring three more tries, two of which were converted. Jack Jones scored and converted. Joe Lavin then gets in on the act taking the ball from a line out and then dummying his way through. Mum does well not to spill a drop of her ever present red wine as she celebrated.
Ben Sparke concludes the scoring as he intercepts and manages to make it to the line to score his second try.
The game, almost at an end, sees Ben Toleman sin binned for something.

So Hoylake continue their unbeaten run, winning 57 – 21. They stay in 2nd place as New Brighton beat Bury 41 – 20 to remain top, a point above Hoylake, who have a game in hand. There is a rearranged game next Saturday as Hoylake entertain Thornton Cleveleys who lie 4th in the league and had a convincing win against Vagabonds 47 – 0.
