Hoylake 29
Ormskirk 3
Hoylake were never really troubled in this fixture and cantered to victory in an unremarkable but steady performance against a usually troublesome Ormskirk outfit.
Hoylake led 15-3 at half-time thanks to tries from Matt Ross and Steve Young. Young also converted once and added a penalty.
The second half followed the same pattern as the first, with Hoylake dominating possession and territory but having to work hard to penetrate the resolute Ormskirk defence. Tries eventually followed from Rich Young (who arrived 15 minutes into the first half, after a mad dash from the airport!)and man of the match, Rob Shaw, whose powerhouse score secured the bonus point for the hosts. Steven Young hit both conversions to give Hoylake a compfortable win in the end.
This week, Hoylake seek to continue their resurgence and rise up the table, by recording a victory on the road against newly promoted Collegiate, who have given a good account of themselves this season, particularly at home.
Hoylake have the rare luxury of a full squad to select from, with the exception of Matt O'Hanlon who picked up a worrying knock in the early exchanges against Ormskirk. Kick off is 3pm.
