Dukinfield 19
Hoylake 7
Not a great deal to say about this one I'm afraid. Yes, Hoylake travelled to Dukinfield with 5 or 6 key players missing due to a previously arranged skiing trip and the RFU's insistence on the fixture being played this weekend. However, the players that came in were more than capable of holding their own and the team as a whole didn't play to their potential.
In the end, Dukinfield showed more heart and determination whilst the Hoylake players seemed to lack direction and leadership. Stand in skipper, Dan Baldock did his best to rally the troops but the lack of experience on the field meant that his efforts were largely in vain.
Hoylake were limited to a controversial Dominic Kearney score and Mike Kearney conversion. Dukinfield registered two tries and three penalties.
The stand out performances for Hoylake were from flankers Guy Byatt and Tom Corkhill who worked hard all afternoon. Hoylake's Man of the Match went to Byatt though who was aggressive and disruptive throughout.
Next week Hoylake welcome Vagabonds in the league. The away fixture was played in atrocious conditions and Vaga's just about had the edge. Hoylake can expect to have a full squad available for selection with the exception of skipper Andy Fielding who is now unavailable for the remainder of the season due to a career change.
