We arrived at Caldy and where playing on the bottom pitch, no, middle pitch, no, top pitch, no we were definitely on the bottom pitch. The boys started their warm ups and looked like they were enjoying it. The ref called the teams in and it was 'Game on'. Hoylake kicked off and Caldy - with a good catch were off, past one, past two, past three and straight up the wing, try time! Hoylake were caught sleeping, with a few shirt tackles and a "someone else will tackle him" mentality we were 1 try down. Conversion also scored 7-0 down
The boys quickly found themselves in a game and with a pretty equal first half where Caldy and Hoylake matched each other, we started the second. Tackling was strong from both teams but Hoylake started to pull away. Caldy had a knack of pulling off some ‘out of the blue’ runs from nothing, but some blistering cover running from Adam saved the day. Hoylake were starting to put together some lovely passing and great combinations, the forwards were working well delivering clean ball which resulted in some lovely back play from Brad, Nico and Jamie that saw Adam score in the corner for a real team try. Making it 5-7 Time to see who has the bottle Ross strides up to take the conversion the team coach can’t watch we need this for the draw with two steps back he strides forward and sends the ball over 7-7 the coach falls to the floor hands raised to the lord above .... And heart still banging against his rib cage...
This was a lovely game of rugby between two very good teams. Well done all!
