Liverpool Collegiate Give Us A Wake Up Call

The under 10's travelled to Liverpool Collegiate for this early Ko fixture.
Brad Cottrel, Dan Morgan and Ross Bourne were the powerhouse for the day playing in the forwards with Adam Stanley at scrum half and the backs made up of Dom, Seth, Jamie,Harry,Brad,C,Joe,M,George,C and Calum,D.
The game started very evenly with both sides sharing the possession.
Liverpool Collegiate had a couple of strong runners who took some stopping but the ‘gritty’ Cottrel and Bourne were equal to them putting in some excellent tackles. . But first Blood did go to Liverpool Collegiate and second third and forth my god we were taking at battering it looked like the lads had not turned up and had been an hour behind Collegiate waking up
Hoylake were not to be outdone however and excellent runs by Dom twice in two minutes helped the half time turn around look more respectable .Adam made some great runs from the back of the rucks but the final pass just failed him until one such run towards the Collegiate line produced an excellent inside ball to put Brad C over the line for his first of two tries.
Adam then scored himself after bursting through the home team’s defensive line.
Collegiate replied and it looked like it was going to be tight game between the two well matched teams. Joe M took the ball from a Hoylake penalty and was set up for a great try
Debutant Seth made a fantastic try saving tackle by tapping the ankle of the Collegiate player as he dashed for the line.
Dom not to be out done and showing that he is not only a grafter but has a turn of speed sprinted up the left touch line and over for his hatrick.
Hoylake started to take the upper hand and gain more of the fifty-fifty balls and it was George C getting to the breakdown first and turning over ball in Hoylakes favour most times.
Collegiate never let their heads drop and fought their way over for their fifth try.
The Hoylake backs never stopped talking to each other encouraging each other and making sure their defence was solid, the final score was 7-5.
A great come back result which in the first 10 minutes never looked on the cards.

The whole team played well but ‘Player of the match’ went to Brad Cottrel for great vision and choosing the right options.
May I thank Mike and all the Collegiate team for a great game that was played in the right spirit hope to see you next season
